Why I create
Creating places that feel like home.
I’ve always been fascinated by the silent traces people leave behind.
I had my own hotel and sometimes this was a lot of fun to all of us who worked there.
When I started living in Southern Spain, I began noticing small stacks of stones, handmade markers, weathered walls and forgotten signs scattered throughout the landscape. They weren’t monuments or works of art, yet they spoke of presence. Someone had been there. Someone had felt the need to leave a mark.
That simple observation led me to explore similar traditions throughout history. Across cultures and centuries, people have created markers: totems, cairns, and standing stones as symbols of belonging, memory and connection.
It made me realise that this instinct has never disappeared. I have always been busy to create places where people feel at home.
We seek places where we feel grounded. We still surround ourselves with objects that carry meaning. With art we create places to feel at home. To express ourselves.
That is why I create. To turn something from nature and the past in a feeling of belonging.
Through sculptural ceramics, I explore the timeless relationship between people, place and belonging. Each sculpture is hand-built as a contemporary marker, an object that invites stillness, creates presence and transforms a space into something deeply personal.
I don’t create simply to fill a room.
I create to help shape places where memories are made, where people gather, where life unfolds. Very personal. You like it or you don’t.
Because I believe the spaces we live in shape how we feel.
And when a space holds meaning, it begins to feel like home.
